Registration Process for Transgender Persons in Benazir Kafalat Program Announced

The government has announced that members of the transgender community can now benefit from the Benazir Kafalat Program, which provides financial assistance to poor and deserving families.

To be eligible, transgender persons must first update their CNIC with NADRA, ensuring that their gender is officially registered as “transgender”. After this step, they need to visit the nearest Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Tehsil Office and complete their registration through the dynamic survey.

Once the registration is complete, confirmation will be sent via SMS from 8171, after which the financial support will begin.

Officials have clarified that the first condition for receiving aid is the registration of gender as transgender on the NADRA-issued CNIC. Moreover, BISP only contacts beneficiaries through 8171; any messages from other numbers should be considered fake.

Analysts believe this step is an important move to provide economic support to the transgender community and ensure their inclusion as an active part of society.
